Quilted Vessels
This series of quilted vessels challenges the perception of clay as a rigid material by exploring the relationship between ceramics and textiles. A hand-sewn fabric vessel is used as a positive to make a plaster mold. Each vessel is then slip casted, allowing the plush, delicate qualities of fabric to be captured in clay. The result is a surprising tactile response that subverts expectations of ceramic surfaces.
